<abstract>
This data set provides a set of wetland polygons delineated by aerial photograph interpretation. This data set is an amalgamation of three original data sets: 1) Ward; 2) Whitehorse; and USFS White River National Forest. Original data were obtained from the Summit County Mapping Department, either directly or via Science Applications Internation Corporation (SAIC).
Each survey differed in its extent and accuracy. The accuracy of the surveys were ranked as 1) Ward, 2) Whitehorse, 3) USFS -- from highest accuracy to lowest. Aerial photography was confirmed by limited ground truthing by SAIC. When wetland polygons overlap occurred, the polygon utilized in this mapping was generally selected from the most accurate aerial photo survey. Where available, aerial photographs were evaluated to confirm polygon selection. In some cases, where photography was available, overlapping polygons from different surveys were retained to cover an entire apparent wetland in a location. In such cases, polygons were clipped so as not to overlap. In some cases additional wetland polygons were added to the survey based on continuing aerial photograph evaluations. Data field definitions are provided in the "supplemental information" section below.
Data fields retained in the attribute table were obtained from the three surveys or derrived after merging. Since the individual surveys used different field definitions and complied different types of data, many fields do not have data entries. </abstract>
<purpose>This data set was complied for the purpose of wetland research and management. It does NOT provide jurisdictional wetland boundaries, and in fact, many of the wetlands herein delineated may not be regulated by federal agencies. </purpose>
<supplinf>
As many as 16 data fields may be included within this data theme. The actual number may be reduced according to the user's version.
1) USFS_WETLN - identification number for those wetlands included within the White River National Forest Survey. 2) QUADNAME - USGS quadrangle in which the wetland occurs.
3) RIPZONE - Riparian zone attribute codes. USFS survey. Code key as follows:
S - Stream - Riparian area, little to no floodplain
SF - Stream - Riparian area with floodplain present
SA - Stream - Alpine Riparian area, little to no floodplain
SFA - Stream - Alpine Riparian area, with floodplain present
M - Meadow - Synonymous with wet meadow, herbaceous wetlands
MA - Meadow - Alpine, Synonymous with wet meadow,herbaceous wetlands
Ws - Wetland/Shrub - greater than 20 percent or more shrub canopy
WSA - Wetland shrub-Alpine
L - Lake/Reservoir
LA - Lake-Alpine
P - Pond - small water body less than 5 ac in size
PA - Pond-Alpine, small water body less than 5 ac in size
SE - Seeps and springs
G - Gully
SB - Snowhed &amp; snow community - permanent and late summer snowfield areas

15) Hydrology -- Hydrologic inputs and outputs. Only entered for slope wetlands and not complete. in = inlet only present, out = outlet only present, tf = through flow, i.e. inlet and outlet present, or iso = isolated, i.e. no inlet, nor outlet.
16) HGM_Class - Numeric HGM class designating whether the wetland is riverine (1), Slope (2), Depression (3) or Lacustrine fringe (4). Classification derrived from the HGM_code_ field.
17) HGM_Subcla -- Letter designation of the wetland's subclass. Derrived from the HGM_code field. Must be used in conjunction with the HGM_class field.
